TOBIAS: classifying historical material using the RHS vocabulary

Sign up now for two workshops (7 and 14 September) based on IHR Digital's Tobias project, which is publishing the Royal Historical Society’s detailed vocabulary of British and Irish history as linked data, making it freely available for the first time.

Anglo-Taiwanese Historians’ Conference: 31 August - 2 September

The IHR will be hosting 15 visiting historians from Taiwan who will participate in a joint conference with historians based in the UK.  The conference, on aspects of the history of Britain and Western Europe, will cover a wide variety of subjects in political, cultural and intellectual history.

Professor Sir David Cannadine on Prime Ministers’ Props

The IHR's David Cannadine explores political fame and image in his new Radio 4 series by looking at how an object or prop, whether chosen deliberately or otherwise, can come to define a political leader.

The IHR will be closed on Monday 29 August for the Bank Holiday. We will be open as usual on Saturday 27 August.
