and Researcher on the CMH project London and the Tidal
Thames 1250-1550: marine flooding, embankment and economic change, funded
by the Economic and Social Research Council.
Research Interests
Jim's research interests lie within the environmental and economic history of the later middle ages. He is currently exploring the impact of climate change, and in particular the changing incidence of North Sea storm surges, upon human use of the Thames-side marshes. His previous work has examined the role played by medieval London within regional and national economies, and the impact of urban demand upon the development of agrarian resources and market systems.
