Martin's thesis focuses on the changes to parliamentary boundaries that accompanied Britain's nineteenth-century Reform Acts. It considers the legislative processes behind boundary reform, with a particular focus on the Boundary Commissions. It also explores the wider impact of boundary changes on local structures of political power, party performance in the constituencies, and the reshaping of the rural and urban landscape during the nineteenth century.
