The theme for the 2018 Winter Meeting is the relationship of Christianity to the political order, broadly conceived, from antiquity to the present. Beyond this, the Programme Committee welcomes papers addressing any other aspect of the history of Christianity and culture, from antiquity to the present, either within traditional categories of historical periodization and geographical area, or across periods or region.

The Priority Deadline is February 15, 2017. All proposals received by this date are assured of special attention by the Program Committee. All proposals for joint sessions with the AHA must also be received by this date. The Standard Deadline is March 15, 2017. Space permitting, proposals received by this date will also be considered for inclusion in the ASCH program. Clear instructions on how to submit a proposal are laid out in the Call For Papers. The Program Committee will consider proposals for full panel sessions or individual papers. Proposals for full panels are strongly preferred and more likely to be accepted. Panels should exhibit diversity of gender, rank, and scholarly location in their
composition. Sessions are typically two hours in length and allow for three or four papers, a formal response, and Q&A. The committee reserves the right to reconfigure sessions as needed.

To submit a proposal for a panel or an individual paper, one must either be a member of the ASCH or join when submitting. This requirement is waived for a) scholars living and working outside the United States and b) members of another AHA affiliate society (e.g. ACHA, CLAH) who are proposing co-sponsored sessions.
