Horse Racing and Politics: a one day conference at the Institute of Historical Research

29 June 2013, 09:00

Event Type: Conference / Symposium

Description:

The relationship between horse-racing and politics is a long and fascinating one.  From at least the 17th century, the machinations of high politics and the fascinations of horseflesh and the track have been closely inter-twined.

This one day conference is designed to draw together scholars with an interest in the subject. Proposals for either themed panels or individual short (20 minute) papers on any aspect of this relationship are invited, by 1 May.

For further information, or to submit a proposal, please contact Matthew Cragoe, University of Sussex (m.cragoe@sussex.ac.uk) or Roland Quinault, IHR (rquinault@hotmail.co.uk).
