Dr Geoff Day (Fellows' Librarian, Winchester College) will host a visit to the College Library and Archives at Winchester College

10 May 2014, 11:00 - 17:00

Event Type: Seminar

The Fellows' Library at Winchester College has books given by the founder, William of Wykeham, at the opening of the college in 1394 and has benefited from donations ever since. This tour of the various rooms of the library will display some of the more remarkable benefactions.

Please note:  this  session takes place on a Saturday.  Intending visitors should make their own way to Winchester in order to arrive at the College for 11.30 a.m. (see the College’s website for location details). For visitors from London, there are regular trains from Waterloo station with a journey time of one hour. A buffet lunch will be provided at the College. Numbers will be limited, and bookings (no charge) must be made in advance to jon.millington@sas.ac.uk no later than Monday 5 May.

Please note: the tour includes at least one medieval spiral staircase with irregular steps.
