Kate Smith (UCL) & Claire Reed (National Trust)

Description:

Claire Reed (House and Collections Manager, Osterley Park and House) and Kate Smith (Research Fellow, UCL History) discuss the challenges and opportunities they encountered during their recent collaboration, which saw Osterley Park and House re-interpreted to include its distinct East India Company history. Their paper explores both the importance of community engagement as a means by which particular histories are made 'public' and the consequences of such engagement for institutions in the heritage and higher education sectors.
