The International Committee of Historical Sciences (ICHS) or CISH was founded in Geneva in 1926. Today, the organisation encompasses a total of 53 countries. The ICHS includes two sorts of organisations. First, there are the National Committees formed in each country from their individual centres for historical research. In addition, International Commissions specializing in particular fields of history (some known as ‘International Affiliated Organisations’ and others as Internal Commissions) have formed over the years. Every five years the ICHS organises a major Congress.
The IHR co-ordinates the UK National Committee and is currently advised by a steering group, the membership of which is detailed below.
The next ICHS Congress will be held in Jinan, China in August 2015. The call for papers for the event has just been issued. UK proposals must be sent via the UK National Committee, c/o the IHR.
For full details about travel, accommodation arrangements and delegate fees, please download the CISH 2015 Practical information - informations pratiques document.
The website ((http://www.ichschina2015.org) of the Jinan Congress will be open in March or April 2014 : participants will be able then to register, to pay their fees, to book their hotel rooms, train tickets, touristic excursions.
