FACHRS Annual Conference: School and Community

Event type:
Conference
Date:
8 May 2010

The Family & Community Historical Research Society's conference will focus on all social aspects of the interaction between the school and the community, and will reflect the current research project of the Society on Education using School Log Books to determine the social impact of the school on the community and the community on the school.

There will be two keynote speakers. Dr Nicola Sheldon of the Institute of Historical Research, who will talk on Truancy, and Terry Ransome, currently Manager of the British Schools Museum in Hitchin, who will base his talk around the research carried out for their recently published book Educating Our Own - The Masters of Hitchin Boys' British School 1810-1929, which explores the experiences of key staff at the school and their pupils.

There will also be short presentations by Society members taking part in the current Education project giving some indication of the type of information unearthed during their individual research.

More details are available at the Society's website: www.fachrs.com where there is a link to the Society's online shop for registration and payment.
