The fighter along the history: identity, perception and representation.

The Faculty of Arts and Science are inviting abstracts and expressions of interest for a conference to be held at the University of Cantabria, Spain, 01-02 April 2010.

This symposium aims to be a forum for presentation and discussion of studies related to the phenomenon of war from an interdisciplinary perspective. Professors and graduate students from history, literature, art history, political science, anthropology and sociology, are strongly invited to this symposium focused on the fighters community, frontgemeinschaft. Study of sociability in war, psychological states of soldiers, mentality and ideology of combat units, military indoctrination or behaviour in "us" versus "them" are some of the topics in which the Conference is interesting in.

The languages of the Symposium will be Spanish and English. People interesting must send a brief bio and an abstract (200 words) before 15 October 2009 to the contacts below.
