The Centre for Hearth Tax Research, in collaboration with the Centre for Metropolitan History, Institute of Historical Research, and Birkbeck, University of London, will host an international conference on ‘Restoration London’ at the Institute of Historical Research on 22-23 September 2010. The conference aims to reassess life and living in later Stuart London, drawing on the unique array of sources for the period, such as parish records, taxation returns, and the recently collated data from the London and Middlesex 1666 hearth tax return. Sessions include: 'Hearths and the Hearth Tax', 'Life and living', 'Location and relocation', 'Houses and residency', 'Business and patronage', and 'Work and occupation'.
