A note on 'Theses in progress 2008': we have only included theses that students or their representatives have given us express permission to include. This means that some theses listed in previous years are no longer listed. If you are a postgraduate student registered at a UK university, and would like to have your thesis title included in 'Theses in Progress', please send your details to ihrpub@sas.ac.uk. Please note your thesis may not be added immediately.

The published version of Historical Research for Higher Degrees in the UK is issued each year in May. The latest edition costs £12 (+£2 postage). To buy or borrow a thesis: to buy a thesis, you need to contact the library of the university where the thesis was written, or use the British Library thesis service. If you are at a university and want to borrow a thesis, you can ask your library to obtain the thesis on an inter-library loan from the library of the university where the thesis is held.

Theses completed and theses in progress have been prepared from information supplied by university registrars, secretaries of faculty boards and heads of departments, to all of whom grateful acknowledgements are made.
