http://www.planning.org/pathways/index.htm
Pathways in American Planning History was
written by Albert Guttenberg. It was originally published in the
Journal of Planning and Education Research and has been adapted
and updated prior to publication on the web. The chronology provides
a very comprehensive overview of American planning and the influences
on planning.
The planning history is browsable either by period
or by theme. The periods are divided into: 1785-1899, 1901-1919,
1920-1939, 1940-1959 and 1960-present. The thematic categories available
for browsing are: landmark publications, planned communities, conservation
and environment, history of the planning profession, housing, regional
planning and landmark laws. The chronological history links into
the thematic history and both provide links to details of people
influential to American planning history. The site is set out in
a logical way which makes it easy to browse. The site is in English.
