The British Cartoon Archive was established in 1973 as a research centre and picture
library which is based upon an archive of over 85,000 pieces of
cartoon artwork. The collections date from 1904 onwards. The web
site provides details of the work of the Archive. The site has an
online database which provides details and Images of all the main
cartoon collections held at the Archive. It is necessary to register
in order to use the catalogue. The catalogue can be searched by
record ID, date, artist, periodical, caption, names and keywords.
A thesaurus of keywords is available to assist in keyword searching.
The site has help on how to search the database. The web site also
provides details of the location of the Archive, using the collections,
publications and charges.
