This site, which forms part of the British Monarchy web site, provides a brief history of all the monarchs of England, Scotland and the United Kingdom. Each entry features a picture, and a description of the key moments in each reign. For a small selection of monarchs there are also full-text speeches, diary extracts, broadcasts and letters from their reigns, which are available in a PDF format. The monarchs which have accompanying text of this nature are King Alfred, Elizabeth I, James I, Charles I, George III, Victoria, Edward VIII, George VI and Elizabeth II.
