Online
http://www.seahistory.org/html/maritimeinternet.htm
This site, created by Peter McCraken from
University of Washington libraries, aims to provide the maritime
researcher with an introduction to the use of online resources.
It is intended to complement the use of more traditional printed
material. The guide has sections on using online resources for researching
ships and people. The site also has a section on libraries and databases;
links are provided to libraries (and their online catalogues where
available) which have a large maritime collections and to databases
which provide access free of charge. The site has two set of web
links. There is a webliography which puts links into a detailed
classification scheme. Links have also been divided into the following
broad categories: general information, museums, specific ships,
books and magazines, music, art and Images, maritime education,
nautical archaeology and modern sailing. Most of the links have
been briefly annotated.
