British Pathé http://www.britishpathe.com/index.cfm The British Pathé site is the first digital news archive available online. Launched in July 2002, and substantially updated in November 2002, it offers access to 3,500 hours of news footage spanning almost a century, from 1896 until 1970, including footage from Pathé’s famous bi-weekly newsreel, the Pathe Gazette. Video clips do have to be purchased, but the site can be searched and the storyboards of clips can be viewed for free. In addition to this free preview files can be downloaded, and users will need to have Windows Media Player installed to view these. Historical theme:
