Anglo-American legal tradition

http://aalt.law.uh.edu/AALT.html

The Anglo-American legal tradition (AALT) website is a project of the O'Quinn Law Library of the University of Houston Law Center in the United States. The AALT provides free access to digitised versions of legal documents of medieval and early modern England from the National Archives in London. The documents have been categorised under the following headings: the first legal system 1176-1348, the second legal system 1348-1529, and the third legal system 1529-1649. Documents on the site include court of common pleas plea rolls, court of king's bench plea rolls, exchequer of pleas plea rolls, Chancery orders and decrees and itinerant justices' rolls. The site includes an article by Robert C. Palmer, Cullen Professor of History and Law at the University of Houston on legal tradition and legal systems providing background and commentary to the collection and highlighting key themes of each period. There is also help on navigating the site and citing cases in the collection. A selection of documents has been transcribed to assist with reading the hand written documents in English and Latin. The site is a work in progress with the addition of further materials planned.
