Library accessibility

The IHR is committed to providing a service flexible enough to meet individual needs.

Getting around

The Institute is located in the north wing of the Senate House building, accessible from the entrance below the Senate House tower. Lift access is available to all floors. If the lift isn’t working we can make other arrangements. Heavy doors and high shelving in some locations mean that readers may need help. We can provide access for an assistant or offer a fetch service.

Accessible toilets are located on the lower ground and 1st floors.

You can take a virtual tour of the IHR with Google to help with planning your visit. You can navigate between floors using the floor numbers on the right hand side.

If you require a parking space please contact ihr.reception@london.ac.uk in advance so that we can reserve one for you.

Emergency evacuation

There are designated Refuge points with an Emergency Call Point on each floor for people unable to use the stairs.
