Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation, University of Hull

The University of Hull’s Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation (WISE) is one of the few research centres in the world that offers expertise on both historical and contemporary slavery.

Our Masters programme offers you the opportunity to study the history of slavery and emancipation and to explore the conditions under which modern slavery and human trafficking continues today.

For information about WISE and how to apply for the MA in Slavery Studies see here.

In 2011 we are running our annual scholarship competition. The scholarship covers full tuition fees at the Home/EU rate. It may be used for full- or part-time study. To apply for a scholarship, you need to have been offered a place on the MA programme, so early applications are encouraged.
