The annual Pollard Prize for 2013 has been awarded to Marie Legendre for her paper on 'Not Byzantine nor Islamic? The duke of the Thebaid and the formation of the Umayyad State' given to the Early Middle Ages seminar. The runner up was Anish Vanaik with 'Representing commodified space: maps, leases, auctions and "narrations" of property in Delhi c.1900-47'  (Metropolitan History Seminar). The prize once again attracted entries of a very high standard. The winning articles will be published in Historical Research
