Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire

An annual grant scheme is now available through which awards will be made to successful applicants in order to help achieve the society's objectives.

There are three categories of grant award:-

Research Grants

Research Grants will usually be made to individuals to help to cover particular research expenses, for example, travel to an archive or the acquisition of copied materials.

Applicants should usually be registered for a research degree or have an established publication record.

Normally these grants will not exceed £300 each.

Publication Grants

Publication Grants will be made to individuals, groups or other bodies seeking support in the preparation of a publication (including electronic publication) on an appropriate topic.

Grants will usually be made to assist with some specific aspect of the publication.

Normally these grants will not exceed £1000 each.

Education Grants

Education grants will be made to schools and other institutions for projects or activities that further the study of local history, for example, assistance with transport to a record office, museum or historical site or the acquisition of copied archive material.

Normally these grants will not exceed £300 each.
