MA Scholarships at the Department of History, Royal Holloway

TWO Herringham MA Scholarships (Fee waiver £7000)
ONE Dinah & Jessica Nichols MA Scholarship (full-time registration only) (covers tuition fees and part maintenance to a total value of £12,000 per annum)
These scholarships will be awarded to new Masters students who will start their studies in the Department of History, R.H.U.L. in September 2017. Please note that these awards will normally be allocated to PhD-track students. (This status will be identified/assessed by means of the academic referee reports and the candidate’s 500 word scholarship statement.
Am I eligible?
These awards are open to applicants for any of the History Department’s taught Masters programmes. The Departmental selection panel will award the scholarships to those with the strongest overall academic profiles, irrespective of the programmes for which they apply. This is judged on the basis of the application (including scholarship statement and the two academic referee reports). Candidates will be assessed based on academic performance to date and should normally have a current grade average in the range of a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. We do not normally interview applicants.
How do I apply?
If you have not already done so, you must submit a general online application to Royal Holloway University of London for the MA programme you wish to study, by the Departmental scholarship deadline: 17 March 2017
By the same deadline you must also email direct to the History Department (firstname.lastname@example.org) a scholarship statement (500 words maximum). This should comment on your academic achievements to date and also explain why you wish to undertake the chosen MA. It should also link the MA to your future research/career path, and give some further outline of what these may comprise. This statement is a crucial part of the scholarship selection process. You will also need to arrange for TWO academic references to be sent through the College online system (RHD) or emailed direct to the History Department (email@example.com).
Additional terms and conditions
The above Scholarships are tenable for the academic year in which the Masters student is enrolled. The scholarships cannot normally be deferred.
Recipients must agree to Royal Holloway communicating their details to the donors and will need to write a hand written thank-you card/letter on receiving the scholarship. They must also agree to meet the donor if required, share their grades with the donor at the end of their course, and send a short written report detailing what the scholarship has meant to them, how the degree has gone and what their future plans now are.
