Ecclesiastical History Society Book Prize

The Ecclesiastical History Society is pleased to announce its second annual book prize of £1000, primarily aimed at early career researchers. The prize will be awarded for the best first monograph on the history of Christianity published during the previous calendar year. To be eligible for the prize, the work must meet the following criteria:

  • be the author's first monograph
  • be on an aspect of the history of Christianity
  • be an original and scholarly piece of academic research
  • have been published in English during 2017

To be considered for this award, publishers (not authors) should send a copy of the monograph to the EHS Secretary, Dr Gareth Atkins, Queens' College, Cambridge, CB3 9ET. The deadline for receipt of the nominated monographs is 31 January 2018. Publishers will be asked to provide two further copies of books that have been shortlisted for this award.


The winner of will be announced at the Society's winter meeting in January 2019.
