4083 new records, including 344 new records relating to the history of London and 65 relating to the history of Ireland. Nearly 2000 of the new records cover titles published in 2003-4.
The current update does not include any new records from Irish History Online, but it is planned that a further batch of records from Irish History Online will be added in spring 2005.
The indexing of many existing titles has been improved.
Irish History Online has been launched, adding 14,000 titles to the bibliography. These records represent the titles from Writings on Irish History for 1989 to 1998 (compiled by Máirín Cassidy and Ciaran Nicholson) which were not already included in the database; the records have been indexed using the bibliography's subject indexing scheme and each has been given an indication of period covered.
It is planned that Writings on Irish History Online will become available in the latter part of August 2004. The first batch of data will cover the contents of Writings on Irish History for 1989 to 1998 and will be searchable from the Royal Historical Society search menu as well as from a dedicated search menu. We are delaying the next update of the Royal Historical Society data to coincide with the launch of Irish History Online.
Nearly 6000 additional titles. This update is the first to include information on recent publications not previously included in the Society’s printed bibliographies (which ceased with the Annual Bibliography covering titles of 2002). The update contains some 2300 items published in 2003 and 2004 which, had the printed version been continued, would not have appeared in the bibliography until autumn 2004 or 2005.
Over 10,000 additional titles including the contents of the RHS Annual Bibliography of British and Irish History for 2002.
Indexing of many existing titles upgraded.
We are grateful to the Arts and Humanities Research Board for a further grant from its Resource Enhancement programme to maintain and develop the online service for three years from 1 January 2004.
