Clerk of the Crown in Chancery - list of appointments

Compiled by J C Sainty, April 2001

List of appointments

This list is designed principally to identify successive holders of the office of Clerk of the Crown. However, details of reversioners who did not succeed to the office are also included in indented paragraphs at the appropriate point in the chronological sequence. Unless otherwise noted grants embodied in letters patent were for life. In those cases where an individual left office or relinquished his grant before death the date of death, where known, is placed within square brackets.
