2016 - Remembering Conrad Russell
The late Professor Conrad Russell, an eminent Liberal politician and early modern historian, was a great friend of the IHR, and the Conrad and Elizabeth Russell Fund continues to support the study of 17th century British history. As a tribute, we will be holding a panel discussion at which Professor Penny Corfield (Royal Holloway), Professor Linda Levy Peck (George Washington University), and Professor Nicholas Tyacke (UCL) will reflect upon and celebrate Conrad's life and work.
A reception will follow.
When: Thursday, 22 September 2016. Discussion: 18.00 to 19.30. Reception: 19.30 to 20.30.
Where: Wolfson Conference Suite, IHR, North Block, Senate House, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HU
Tickets: £10 (£5 students)
John Russell, Conrad and Elizabeth's son, has most generously donated his parents' personal library to suppor the Institute. We will be holding a special book sale of this collection, which focuses primarily on 17th century British history.
Books will be on sale throughout the day on Friday, 23 and Saturday, 24 September. There will be an exclusive preview of the book sale following Thursday's discussion; this is free for Friends of the IHR, and ticket holders to Thursdays' event may also attend.
When: Friday, 23 September: 10.30 to 18.30. Saturday, 24 September: 10.00 to 15.00.
Where: Common Room, IHR, North Block, Senate House, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HU
