The IHR has been undergoing a major refurbishment which is due for completion this summer (for up to date information, please visit the IHR Blog). This is an exciting development which has been masterminded by the current Director, Professor Miles Taylor.
The refurbished IHR will have some new facilities (eg a conference suite, dedicated research training centre, four new seminar rooms and a modernised library to name just a few of the amenities) but it will also have everything that we enjoyed in the old IHR including the much-valued Common Room. These improvements will enable the IHR to remain the hub of historical research in Britain and far beyond.
We have raised over half a million pounds to fund the fitting-out and furnishing of our premises in the North Block of Senate House and we are £160,000 away from our capital campaign target. With only five months left we are asking members of the IHR community to help us to bridge this gap by contributing to our ‘Invest in the IHR’ appeal.
Please think about what the IHR and its seminars have meant to you and your career and, if you are able to make a gift to reflect that, please do so. This is a unique opportunity to invest in the physical fabric of the IHR.
All contributions will be greatly appreciated and will be acknowledged in a suitable manner.
