Current closure of the IHR premises

With the exception of the IHR Library, which partially reopens from 28 September 2020, the Institute building remains closed at this time.

We continue to work remotely and endeavour to maintain as many Institute services and resources as possible.

Current closure of IHR premises

The IHR building is currently closed, with the exception of access to the IHR Library for readers with reservations.

IHR staff continue to work remotely and to provide as many resources and services as possible online, including events and seminars.

For regular updates on IHR activities, please consult the homepage of the IHR website, the IHR's Twitter, the IHR blog, On History or sign up for the IHR's monthly Bulletin.

We also continue to help with enquiries where possible. Please see contact details.

Reopening of the IHR Library

From 28 September 2020, the IHR Library has partially reopened for readers seeking access to collections.

Selected Library reading rooms are currently open Monday to Wednesday 11:00 - 15:00. Pre-booking of desks is essential. Information on Library access and how to book a desk is available here. Access to the Library is via the main IHR entrance, with access to Senate House via the Russell Square entrance.

Current and forthcoming seminars and events

All forthcoming IHR events will be held online for the forseeable future.

A full listing of the Institute's extensive autumn events programme -- comprising panels, workshops and seminars -- is available here. A guide to forthcoming events by seminar series is also available.

Selected recordings of recent events can be accessed by the IHR Events Archive.
