Grant awarded for project on 'George Whitefield and Trans-Atlantic Protestantism'

Revd Dr David Ceri Jones, Reader in Welsh and Atlantic History, Aberystwyth University, has been awarded a grant from the Leverhulme Trust for a project: 'George Whitefield and Trans-Atlantic Protestantism'. Dr Geordan Hammond has been appointed as Research Assistant. The primary aim of the project is to produce the first scholarly edition of Whitefield's extensive transatlantic correspondence. The project will build upon collaborative work Jones and Hammond have been involved in, including the June 2014 'George Whitefield at 300' conference and their co-editorship of George Whitefield: Life, Context, and Legacy (Oxford University Press, 2016), consisting of sixteen essays that originated as papers at the conference.
