The Institute of Historical Research was founded in Bloomsbury, London, in 1921 as a metropolitan and national centre for historical research and its dissemination.
It is home to a continuous programme of more than 60 research seminars per fortnight and numerous academic conferences on topical scholarly subjects, many of which are hosted with national and international collaborators.
In October 2014 the IHR completed a five year capital renovation project and moved back into its original home in the North Block of Senate House. The renovations allows the IHR to offer fully refurbished modern teaching facilities, meeting rooms, conference facilities, research training and enhanced library resources.
The IHR is an ideal London event venue situated in the heart of historic Bloomsbury, close to attractions such as the British Museum and British Library. We are also well connected to London’s transport links and close to many hotels making the IHR the ideal location in London for any conference, research training or meeting.
