In this first half of this session, the VCH central office team and Jamie Bowman will introduce working with images in publications: the mechanics of permissions, copyright and supplying images that publishers can use.
In the second half, Matt Bristow - using building photography as an example - will introduce some of the practical considerations around taking your own images with publication in mind: accessing your subject, permissions, and how to (try) to take a good picture.
Jamie Bowman is the Production Manager at University of London Press, overseeing the processes of taking manuscripts and images and making them into finished books.
Matthew Bristow is a Senior Investigator in Historic England's Research Group. He specialises in Landscape and Buildings archaeology with research interests which include church architecture, village and town morphology, the buildings of the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions, New Towns and non-traditional housing types of the 20th century
All welcome- this seminar is free to attend, but advance registration is required.
