Family Stories, Gendered Silence: Nice 1942-Brussels 1994
Stéphane Gerson is Professor of French, French Studies, and History at NYU. His current research revolves around personal family history and modes of historical writing. He is currently working on two books. First, a collection of essays in which scholars from multiple disciplines investigate their own family history and reflect on this approach: Scholars and Their Kin: Experiments in Historical Writing (Chicago, 2024). He is also researching and beginning to write a book that he defines as a historical ethnography of a family story: Les gestes de notre guerre, 1942-1994-2026 (La Découverte, 2026).
