History journals are a crucial part of our intellectual infrastructure and yet editors report multiple difficulties in a rapidly changing context. This collaborative session offers an opportunity for editors to come together to think about our relationships with publishers, authors, and readers. We will also think more broadly about the direction history journals might take over the coming years.

The format will be relatively open, though we are looking for a small number of volunteers to provide brief, 5-minute introductions to some of the issues. The editors of Past & Present will share the recent experiences faced by that journal - both worries and grounds for optimism - and consider what the future role of P&P might be. Likewise, Nadja Durbach will talk to the experience of flipping the Journal of British Studies to full open access.

If you are interested in speaking about the issues faced by your own journal, please email the IHR Director, Claire Langhamer, at [email protected] by the end of March.

All welcome- This event is free to attend, but booking is required
