Researching migration and refugee narratives

This online research training session introduced participants to a wealth of resources available for researching the histories of migration and refugee narratives.

This session covered:

  • Introduction to the IHR Library’s collections, focusing on finding and using sources that highlight personal migration and refugee experiences such as diaries, letters, oral history interviews and memoirs.
  • How to use the Bibliography of British and Irish History (BBIH) to research refugee and migration histories.
  • Introduction to the work of the Centre for Migration, Refugees and Belonging and the Refugee Council Archive collections at the University of East London, with a focus on history.
  • Introduction to using the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies library to research refugee law, with a case study focusing on researching the 1951 Refugee Convention.
