In this in-person session we will think about the job application process from beginning to end, drawing on the group’s experiences of being interviewed and the panel’s experience of conducting job searches.

  • Which roles is it worth your time applying for?
  • What does a ‘good’ application look like?
  • How should you prepare for the interview itself, and what might you be asked?

We will try to demystify the process while offering a space to raise questions and offer some practical advice. The session should be of particular interest to History PhD students and early career researchers.

The panel will include Professor Matthew Hilton, co-editor of Past and Present and former Vice Principal for Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen Mary University of London, and Professor Claire Langhamer, Director of the IHR.

All welcome- This event is free to attend, but booking is required.
