This online research training session will introduce participants to a wealth of resources available for researching the histories of witchcraft and magic.

This session will cover:

  • Digital humanities approaches to researching Victorian witchcraft and the development of modern paganism.
  • Introduction to the Warburg Library’s magic and science collections, with a case study on Renaissance magic, alchemy, and divinity.
  • Introduction to SHL’s magic, occult, and paranormal collections, with a case study on the Harry Price collection.
  • Introduction to the IHR Library’s collections, with a case study on Latin American/Caribbean witchcraft.
  • How to use the Bibliography of British and Irish History (BBIH), with a focus on witchcraft and magic in religion and entertainment.
