West Germany from Adenauer to Schmidt: Learning and Unlearning What Great Powers Do
William Glenn Gray is an associate professor of history at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on various aspects of German foreign relations history, including monetary policy, European integration, human rights, Ostpolitik, and the export of weapons and nuclear technology. These various strands constitute the underlying basis for Gray’s most recent book, Trading Power: West Germany’s Rise to Global Influence, 1963-1975 (Cambridge, 2023). His current book project involves a study of West German capitalism and Brazil’s development dictatorship during the Cold War.
