The Institute of Historical Research is delighted to announce a new Doctoral Fellowship in Black British History for students in the Writing Up period of the graduate studies.  The award has made possible by a generous donation in honour of Professor Justin Champion (1960-2020), who was professor of history at Royal Holloway, University of London.

The doctoral fellowship will run for six years in the first instance and each fellowship will usually last for six months.

Professor Claire Langhamer, Director of the IHR says “Black British History is one of the most intellectually rich areas of historical research at the moment and we are delighted that this donation will help us support scholars contributing to this dynamic and vital field."
