The workshop is intended for professional history researchers and enthusiasts, from all sectors and periods, to learn about Digital Archives, how they work, the new possibilities that they offer to research.

Marta Musso, Communication Manager of the Archives Portal Europe Foundation and Teaching Fellow at King’s College London, will present Archives Portal Europe, the largest online portal for archival research in European archives, which allows to adopt a new approach to historical research and primary sources.
Jane Ronson will present on 'Discovering UK Archives Online'. Jane is the Development and Outreach Officer for the Archives Hub, an aggregator for descriptions of archives held in over 320 institutions throughout the UK, and Copac at Jisc, a charity that provides digital services for UK education. She has an M.A. in Librarianship.
Dr Louise Seaward will present on “Transkribus: Automated Text Recognition for Handwritten Historical Documents.” Louise is a researcher working at the Bentham Project at University College London. She is the coordinator of Transcribe Bentham, a crowdsourcing project which asks members of the public to transcribe papers written by the English philosopher Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832). She also works on the Recognition and Enrichment of Archival Documents (READ) project, helping to make historical documents more accessible through handwritten text recognition technology.
