The RAF Museum will host a workshop exploring the service of the African, Caribbean, South Asian and Irish volunteers that have served in the RAF despite being opposed to British rule in their home countries. The event will provide an opportunity to share the stories of men and women from overseas and from diaspora communities underrepresented in traditional narratives of Britain in the world wars. ‘Freedom Fighters’ will also examine how the RAF succeeded in attracting high-calibre personnel from all over the world at a time when questions of race, culture and governance were often divisive.

Details about how to join this event will be available soon.
