Danny is Publishing Manager of British History Online (BHO) and Managing Editor for the IHR's Reviews in History service. For BHO Danny is responsible for selecting and componetising historical texts for keying, uploading them to the database and ensuring the correct metadata is added - as well as assisting with the promotion and administration of this large and much-used resource. For Reviews in History, Danny is responsible for commissioning and editing content for this well-established historiographical service.
Danny also contibutes to the IHR's website maintenance, as wll as assisting with podcasting of IHR seminars, subsequently developed as part of the IHR Digital Seminar and Training Project. In 2018-19 he was one one of the small team responsible for the design and rebuild of the Institute's new website.
Danny was seconded to the IHR in 2007 to work on 'Making History', a project for which the outcome was an online resource covering the development of the discipline and profession of histiry in Britain from the late 19th century. In addition he has worked on a range of projects within the IHR Digital group, including History Online, Connected Histories, TOBIAS (the Thesaurus of British and Irish History as SKOS), and British and Irish Furniture Makers Online.
Having originally trained as a librarian, Danny previously worked elsewhere in the School of Advanced Study, initially on a project to catalogue and promote the political ephemera collections of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies and the Institute for the Study of the Americas; and subsequently as manager of the latter's library prior to its absorption into the main ULRLS collections at Senate House.
