Dr David Jacques is a Course Tutor on the IHR's MA in Garden and Landscape History

David is a specialist in landscape conservation and seventeenth- and eighteenth-century garden history.

David's teaching and research

David is a specialist in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century garden history. He was the first permanent Inspector of Historic Parks and Gardens at English Heritage and subsequently taught the Landscape Option of the MA in Conservation at the University of York. He was a visiting professor at De Montfort University, and developed the course on landscape conservation at the Architectural Association into an MA.

David's publications include Gardens of Court and Country: English Design 1630-1730 (2017), The Gardens of William and Mary (1978), Georgian Gardens: The Reign of Nature (1983) and Landscape Modernism Renounced: The Career of Christopher Tunnard, 1910-1978 (2009).
