Li's Research
She was awarded her PhD degree at University of Exeter in February, 2023. Her PhD thesis, entitled ‘Wage labour and living standards in early modern England: a case study of the Shuttleworth accounts, Lancashire 1582-1621’, explored different types of wage workers employed and the Shuttleworth employees’ living standards during a period of crisis. Li worked as a research associate/fellow for the FORMSofLABOUR project after she passed her PhD viva. During this fellowship, she will further the discussion of life-cycle changes of living standards and transform her PhD into a book, Wage Labour in Rural England, c. 1580-1620, by using more household accounts and probate inventories.
