The Victoria County History of Northumberland
The VCH began work in Northumberland in the early years of the 20th century, but did not continue after the First World War partly because the county already had an excellent, locally produced, history. The Northumberland County History Committee produced eleven volumes between 1893 and 1940. As a result the VCH have yet to publish a Northumberland volume.
