Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust

Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust (LVCHT) was launched in May 2009 to raise funds for and support and promote the Victoria County History project in Leicestershire. We work with volunteers across Leicestershire to research and write the history of the parishes in this county, for publication by the VCH. We are a registered charity (no. 1128575) and are able to claim gift aid on eligible donations. Money raised goes towards providing training and support for our volunteers in Leicestershire, the cost of travel to distant archive offices, other research and publication. Although locally-held records form an important part of our research, most parish histories require more than one trip to Kew as well as visits to other archive offices in London, Northampton, Lincoln, and often elsewhere.

It took a while to raise enough money to make meaningful progress, but our first two paperbacks were published in 2017: histories of Castle Donington and of Buckminster and Sewstern. Our history of Ibstock was published in 2020, and Lutterworth in 2022.  We are currently raising money to write and publish a 'Red Book', which will cover the town of Loughborough and its surrounding parishes. Much of the research for this volume has been completed by our volunteers, as part of our Charnwood Roots project, which ran from 2013-2017. We are very grateful to them for their help.

We take care to respect the privacy of all our supporters. Our privacy statement can be found on the link below.
