The Victoria County History of Nottinghamshire

Two general volumes were published in 1906 and 1910. Attempts to research and write the topographical volumes failed in the difficult financial climate after the First World War, and nothing further has been published since that time.

Nottinghamshire County Council made available some funds between 2009-11 to start work on the topographical volumes. The first result, under the supervision of the Derbyshire county editor, Philip Riden, will be Nottinghamshire Volume III.

Part of Volume II, detailing the county's medieval religious houses, is on British History Online. For full access to all volumes, check your local library catalogue or your local archive.
