Copying regulations

  • All copying should comply with copyright regulations. Copyright on a work generally ends 70 years after the author's death. Where a work is in copyright:
    • No more than 5% (or one chapter or article) from a book or journal issue should be copied
    • Copying should be for non-commercial research or private study only
Further information is displayed on notices by the machines, or ask at library enquiries for further guidance.
  • Please handle items carefully when copying, and ask for advice before copying anything that is a ‘special collections’ item or is large, fragile, tightly bound or damaged.
  • We allow digital photography. You are encouraged to save copies electronically where possible.
