Self-service copying

Copying facilities are available on floor 2 of the IHR. The copier can be used for photocopying, releasing print jobs and scanning to email.

Costs are per side. A double-sided copy will charge for 2 copies


The Bookeye scanner is free, and saves to USB disk. The photocopier is 4p per scan and scans to email.

Your account

Copying accounts are shared across Senate House Library, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Warburg Institute and the Institute of Historical Research. You can set up and administer your account at

Click to Register as a new user. During the registration process you will create a username and password and receive a 6 digit PIN. Choose details you can remember or keep a record for future use. Once registered, you will get an email with your account details. You will need to click a link to confirm your email address.

Adding credit

Online using credit/ debit card:

  • Access your account via Click Add Credit in the sidebar.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen. You won't receive an acknowledgement email, but you can view and print your Transaction History via your account.
  • After completing payment, remember to Log Out.

In cash: Please visit the IHR library enquiry office.

Once credit has been added it cannot be refunded except in the event of a machine malfunction. You will lose unused credit after 3 years of inactivity on your account.

Copying regulations

  • All copying is subject to copyright regulations. Further information is displayed on notices by the machines.
  • Please handle items carefully when copying, and avoid copying anything that is large, fragile, tightly bound or damaged.
  • We allow digital photography. Please be considerate to other users when taking photos and choose a location where you will not disturb people working in the vicinity.
