Organised with the John Rylands Research Institute, IHR@Manchester offered guides to digital resources and sessions on publishing and for history librarians.
As the UK's national centre for history, the IHR's remit extends well beyond its physical building in London. We've long pursued this remit via our digital resources and research partnerships, to which we now add our annual IHR@ series.
IHR@ are history training days held at universities across the UK. Institute staff work with historians at the host department to provide research training, networking opportunities, in depth sessions on topics including public history or publishing for historians, and panel debates on pressing questions such as history and fake news.
We began the series in 2019 and last year hosted IHR@Sheffield, in association with their Centre for Contemporary and Modern History, and IHR@Manchester, with historians from the John Rylands Research Institute.
Current events for 2020 are IHR@Swansea (30 April) and IHR@Belfast (date to be announced).
In light of the current public health situation, we have taken the decision to postpone the IHR@Swansea Public History event (planned for 30 April at Swansea University), for the safety of participants and our wider communities. We are sorry about this disappointing news, but thank you all for your interest in the event and look forward to rescheduling in due course.
In 2019 we held our first two IHR@ events in association with History departments at the universities of Sheffield and Manchester.
