This CHPPC Online Training session was chaired by Dr Adam Chapman of the Centre for the History of People, Place and Communities and the Victoria County History and featured, Professor Susan Oosthuizen (University of Cambridge), author of The Anglo-Saxon Fenland and The Emergence of the English and Professor Angus Winchester (Lancaster University), author of The Language of the Landscape: A Journey into Lake District History.

This session discussed the analysis of historic settlement through place names, mapping and the written record among other tools to write about the landscape and its history.
